Stevie's Story

Attended Eastfield (Jr.) College for one year, then went to work for Snelling & Snelling Employment Agency at Big Town. In 1977, I married my boss who was 10 years older than myself. He had two daughters from a previous marriage, so I became a Step-Mom. 1980, he was working for Tropicana and they transferred us to Maryland. I went to work for Penguin Yarns out of France and in 1981, our first son was born. Shortly after his birth, Tropicana moved us to Atlanta where I had our second son. A couple of years later, we moved to Harlingen ("Down in the Valley"). Then to Florida, where my sons & I have lived for 15 years. My oldest son (Chris who was born in Columbia, MD.) is now 26 with a beautiful wife and they have given me two precious granddaughters. My younger son (JP who was born in Mariette, GA.) is 23, attending University of South Florida (my alma mater) and is majoring in psychology. I divorced Mr. Sims in 1993 while I was attending USF in Lakeland, where I received my Bachelors degree in Business Administration. I then worked for Nabisco as a Sales Rep/Merchandiser until March 2000 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After several surgeries, chemo therapy and radiation, I was cleared of the cancer, then had a heart attack due to the miss-guided radiation. However, I am fully recovered and plan to be around qui...Expand for more
te awhile!!! For the past few years, I have been involved with an Over the Road Truck Driver (Butch). We traveled the entire country as paid tourists, until recently when my mother became a widow, running her own business, and needed me to return home to help. So, now I'm back in the DFW area where I plan to stay with high hopes that my sons and granddaughters get to visit often. I pulled out my Senior year Annual to refresh my memory with faces & names, and began to wonder what so many of you are doing now. I do hope that this Classmates.com will put me in touch with some of you. I have sooo many fun memories, even though I wasn't one of the most popular people, I had a blast! Recently, I revisited the Dairy-Ette at Ferguson & Oates and was very glad to see that some things never change.... The wildest thing that I ever did in school, was smoke; pot in our (Janice R.) cars in the morning & cigarettes on the blacktop at lunch. And I still have a good set of lungs today, regardless of the other health issues that I faced. I love animals and wish I had majored in Animal Husbandry. The one thing that I would truly like to do someday, would be to have some land where I could take care of all of the homeless animals in my area, no matter what species. But I'm not a veterinarian, or a land owner, so I will just enjoy the dream.
