Currently working in Madison (1 block from Capital) for State of Wisconsin - Dept of Public Instruction putting my Ph.D. to work assisting school districts integrate information and technology literacy/fluency into the core academic curriculum, developing policy on technology in schools and administering federal technology grant programs, among other things. Lots of paper pushing, phone calls and emails - and yes, writing! August 2008 was my 10 year anniversary at DPI - WOW! Latest work focus is how Web 2.0 apps (blogs, wikis, social media, personal learning networks) can affect education. My position requires some travel around the state to do presentations and to Washington DC (1-2 times a year for meetings and advocacy (that's a polite term for lobbying) our state's congressional delegation to support educational technology and school reform. I have also consulted with groups visiting Wisconsin from Jordan, Korea, Japan and Thailand on issues surrounding educational technology, student achievement and school reform.
