Stuart's Story

After Lowell: '70-'72: City College of SF Criminal Justice program (Associates degree) and member CCSFPD, matriculated as Night Operations Division Captain under Chief Nelson Lum and then Gerald DiGerolamo '72-'73: Patrol Special Officer for City and County of San Francisco. '73-'98: Berkeley, CA PD, retired as Sr PTO with assignments in Patrol, Violence Suppression unit, Training Bureau (as PTO and TDY Sgt), FTO program, Firearms Training Unit coordinator, Tactical Group Hostage Negotiation Team. Medal of Valor ('90), Medal of Honor ('87), Officer of the Year (‘81, ‘86). TDY USDOJ contractor in Mex ('83) SAmerica ('91) and WCarib ('95) on authorized LOAs. '96-'01: Adjunct Instructor for Heckler & Koch, a German weapons manufacturer. '03-'10: Firearms & tactics instructor for Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards & Training Academy, retired. ‘21: earned NRA instructor certifications: pistol, concealed carry Very happily married (first and only) in '01; as of this edit (4/‘23) daughter, HS grad 6/‘17, local community college transfer to University of Idaho, relocated to CA and in 10/‘22 wed a USAF SecSqdrn E5 who shipped out to Turkey 4/‘23; son (HS grad 6/‘21) finished freshman year at Western Oregon University but left to take a job in private industry. Devotions: my children, shooting, building/exhibiting/IR combat with scale model RC armored vehicles. SF Giants and Niners fan since 1962, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (formerly a SFG minor league team) fan since '00: saw Lincecum, Panik, Posey, Sandoval when they played minor league ball here.
