Stuart's Story

Life Since I graduated from college, I have been able to enjoy a rewarding, exciting, and successful sportscasting career. I am currently residing in San Antonio, Texas, broadcasting for the University of Texas-San Antonio Women's Basketball Team, High School Football, plus I am part of the play-by-play crew of the San Antonio Missions, the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate in the Texas League. I have been calling professional baseball action for at least 20 years while getting a chance to broadcast pro hockey for about seven years. I also had the opportunity to call games for the Quad City Thunder (Davenport, IA; Moline, IL; Rock Island, IL. and Bettendorf, IA)in the Continental Basketball Association for a couple of seasons. I have had been a semi-finalist for a radio job with the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers. Still plugging along to get a big-league break, but I love the excitement of my work and the travel to many cities all over the country. I have worked in the Boston area early in my career for a while, plus ...Expand for more
I lived in various cities around the United States. San Antonio is an awesome city and I became friends with former Mets catcher Jerry Grote and his lovely wife, Cheryl. As many of you know, Jerry played on the 1969 Miracle Mets Team and he is a native and resident of San Antonio. Super nice guy. While being here in Texas, I also got to meet former Met and Hall of Fame Pitcher, Nolan Ryan, who along with sons Reid and Reese, own two minor league teams in Texas, in which one is in the Texas League. Ken Boswell was another 1969 New York Met whom I met since he lives up the road from me in Austin. They all look like they can still play ball!! Boswell, Ryan, and Grote all have fond memories of playing in New York City and especially on the 1969 Miracle Mets' World Championship team. Although I didn't know a lot of people in my class (but I knew a number of them), I certainly hope that y'all (LOL, I have been in Texas a bit too long) are enjoying your lives and as the Spirit of the Class of '76, have the power to "MAKE OUR DREAMS COME TRUE".
