As a product of a dysfunctional family I was very shy and introverted in high school. However, hardship can also build character, give someone a sense of compassion for those who suffer, bring a desire to seek higher truths, and try and make the world a better place by being a better person. I left home shortly after high school and joined the navy, worked my way through college and became a CPA, then travelled around the world for 6 months and met a truly unique and wonderfully unselfish Australian women who I eventually married in 1993 and migrated to Adelaide Australia.
