Sue's Story
Life
Hey guys...probably nobody will remember me, but the two years I lived in Merced, before I moved back to Western, New York, were the two BEST years of my entire educational life....and then some. I was there back in '64 to summer 66. I didn't get to graduate there. My father wanted to go back home to New York State and I didn't have any voice in his decision. My mom and dad managed the Century 21 Motel. I loved the pool there and loved to swim, wish I had it back. Jay's Restaurant was built on the property, I remember the grand opening and the cobbler they served there. I have never considered the school that I graduated from "Kenmore West" in the Town of Tonawanda NY area, (Buffalo) as the school I graduated from. I was only there for one year and they were nowhere like the crazy friends and I had from California. I loved dragging the main, the chinese fire drills, the laughing, loving.... Loved to play jokes, had a food fight at Debbie Wallace's birthday party at her hotel her parent's managed. Debbie past away quite awhile ago. It was cancer. She did manage to come with her honey to Endicott, NY where my husband and I lived at the time,1976 or around there. Get the two of us together and we couldn't stop laughing. My other bestfriend was/is Carole Ha...Expand for more
rris. We are still friends, and she has been here 3-4 times and I got back there once. Actually went back to Merced and visited the high school. We took alot of pic's. Like trying to open our locker. Standing outside the main office. It was a warm fuzzy for me. Went to LaNita's. We had so much fun on that visit, Carole kept cracking me up. Our cheeks hurt so much from laughing what a card. Carole and I were going to go out for the school mascot in our senior year, but I moved. I will be married 37 years on August 19th, 2009. My husband, Joe, and I met in January '69 at a bar where my friend knew his friend and the rest is history. We have two children, Michael (28) and Christina (27) on Jan 2,09. No grandchildren yet but we are hoping eventually we will have a few. First, my kids need to find someone and get married. My husband has worked for the railroad all this time. I was an LPN and worked at a hospital in a rehab unit and also worked at nursing homes. I could go on and on. The thing is, when all is said and done, (and I am having a bad day)....I just look back to those two years I lived in that beautiful city, and remember the incredible time I had. I wished to God I could have graduated there. It was my dream. Oh well, it was awesome anyways!!!!!!!
