Sue's Story

Life I spent most of my adult life on the west coast- northern California, Hawaii, and Washington State. My children and I moved back to Virginia in 1991. For 25 years I was able to be home with my children, but began a career in my late 40s. I LOVE my career and being a grandmother. It's nice to be home in Virginia after years of living away. I'm blessed to have both my parents still with us, two brothers, and a fantastic niece also. I was only at Great Bridge part of my junior year and my senior year, moving from South Norfolk at age 16. After high school, I attended Eastern Christian College, then married and followed a nuclear engineer around the country. I have close friends from all over I still hear from and visit. My best memories of Great Bri...Expand for more
dge are of glee club with Mrs. Jackmein and art with Mrs. Eason. I continue to enjoy art, am a calligrapher and even taught calligraphy in two states. Along with painting, drawing, and lettering I've added engraving glass to my love of art. Imagine being able to draw and letter in glass! It's very gratifying. My newest tool is a spiffy glass engraver the size of a paint brush that zssssts along at 400,000 rpm. I can literally sign my name in glass. FUN! Due to living all over the country, I've never attended a class reunion and suspect it would have been difficult to keep up with me. I'd love to hear from anyone I sang and painted with! Here's hoping you are all well and have made peace with being, (YIKES) 60! Wow! It doesn't feel like 60 does it?
