Sue's Story
Life
I am a breast cancer survivor...into my 10th year now! I can't say it enough...MAMMOGRAM, MAMMOGRAM, MAMMOGRAM. It saved my life!
I now have THREE grandchildren. Unbelievable! I have one son, Kyle, who is an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force. My daughter-in-law, Jamie, is a stay-at-home mom taking care of three little ones and one big one (my son...lol.) I have two grandsons, Jaden-7yrs and Jordan-4yrs, and my granddaughter, Kora-3yrs. Never in a million years did I think I'd be "Nana" to three beautiful grandchildren. I LOVE IT!
I pulled up stakes from good ole' Indy in May 2009 and moved to Texas, just north of the Dallas area in a city called The Colony (yes two words...THE Colony.) I've lived in Indy all my life and truly just got fed up with the drab gray winter months and cold blustery weather. With my son and his family living on Vance AFB in Enid, OK, just 60 miles west of Oklahoma City, I wanted to be closer to them while the children are still little. ited every 10-12 wks from Indy, but it was a 12-hour drive, and flying was out of the question because of all the 'surprises' I take with me for the kids; however, from the North Dallas area, it's only a 4 hour drive...MUCH better, and either I go to the kids or they come to Dallas an average of every 6 weeks.
I found a great job just two months after I moved to TX with Fireman's Fund Ins. Co., a division of Allianz Insurance, the largest property and casualty insurance company in the world. I am blessed to be able to work from home 95% of the time. My boss works remotely from her home in Scottsdale, AZ. Our home office is in Novato, CA, just north of San Francisco. We have a regional office with close to 1,000 people in downtown Dallas...approx 30 miles from where I live, but I don't have to make that drive more than once every few months. I'm also able to visit my kids in OK, or even my family back in Indy and work from there, so it's the best of the best world.
Looking forward to our 35th Class Reunion. I've missed the last two so I'm really excited to catch up with everyone.
