Sue's Story
Hi guys...It's been a long time since High School! I went to COCC for two years, then got a degree (useless) in Psychology from OSU. Met my husband there, though, so it wasn't a waste. Since I didn't know what else to do, i went into the Army for a couple of years--hated it--decided I'd better decide what to do when I grew up. So I went back to OSU, did the Math and Science stuff that I had strenuously avoided at first, and applied to Medical School. Got in at U of O, but also at UC Davis. My husband's grandparents lived near there, and by that time we had a 3 year old daughter, so we chose UC Davis. Did a pediatric residency after med school (which I stretched out a little to incorporate a couple of sons into the program). Worked as a pediatrici...Expand for more
an for Kaiser Permanente for a couple of years in Roseville, CA; while my husband worked at the nuke plant nearby. Nuke plant shut down, so we relocated to our current home in Rainier, OR. He worked at the nuke plant in Rainier until it shut down, too, then decided to stay with steam generation and has worked at that plant since. I have a practice in Longview, Washington, right across the river, with nine other pediatricians and 4 pediatric nurse practicioners. Just recently stopped on-call responsibilities and am loving it. And we have a now 10 year old son adopted from Vietnam, who keeps us entertained, busy and young! The 3 older kids are now 31, 27 and 24, and the second kid will become a father in Sept.; our first grandchild! (We can't wait!)
