Sue's Story

Graduated from ISU with a degree in Education, majoring in Library Science and Children's Literature. Then I became a camp follower for my husband, John while he served in the Air Force. We married in 1967 in Denver, CO. I taught school in Hampton Virginia, then worked for a textbook publisher in River Forest while John was in SE Asia. We ended up in Portsmouth NH until his discharge. We returned to his home area where I worked at State Farm while he finished college. .We moved to Michigan in 1973.. We have two children - a girl in 72 and a son in 77. and 4 grandchildren (3 girls, 1 boy). Our daughter is now in Virginia and our son lives 1/4 mile from us). n Director and later as a volunteer in our church, I spent over 15 years as a volunteer working with families and schools that have ADHD children.. And later with adult groups that have ADHD. Eventually I learned that I, too had/have ADHD. Because of John's business in the insurance industry, we have enjoyed many wonderful trips, including England, Spain, Italy, Bermuda, Greece and in the US.. Now that we are retired, our life has slowed considerably. I'm managing some health issues that come with age and we are working with a start up church that reaches out to dis-allusioned Christians. with success, even with COVID. restrictions in Michigan. We look forward to traveling again once the restrictions allow.
