Sue's Story

Right after graduation Phil Rebman and I were married. We had one child, Paul, lived in Germany for 2 years and then I divorced him in 1976. In 1979 I married Lou, a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College. I helped him raise his 3 children from his previous marriage. And Lou adopted Paul right after we got married. We moved from Philadelphia to Green Bay, WI in 1996, building our home and Guest House on 12+ acres. I also breed and show AKC Registered Boston Terriers. You can view my web site at Achates Bostons. Com. We travel cross country in our Prevost Motor Coach attending Dog Shows and visiting our kids. Lou worked for Tufco Technologies, who my husband of 44 years was President and CEO for 17 years. Before that he was the world wide Vice President of Logistics for Scott Paper Company in Philadelphia. He currently is busy with his Boston Consulting, LLC company. Our son, Paul LeCalsey, is a 2000 graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay and was married to Paula Sue Heimerman at our home on 2001. Our youngest Granddaughter Sophia was born in 2008 to Paul and Paula who now live in the Minneapolis area. I now have 8 grandchildren: 2 in Lancaster, PA, 3 in Jacksonville, FL, 2 in Omaha, NE and 1 in Minnesota.. We became Great Grand parents in December 2020 to our precious Luca LeCalsey. And in January of 2023 our 2 nd great grandson Ryder was born. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on 8-27-08. Fortunately for me, we caught it in Stage 1 and it had not spread to lymph nodes. So no Chemo was necessary. After having a lumpectomy I elected to have Mammosite High Dose Radiation treatments. That is where they implant a balloon in your breast where the lump was removed, leaving a tail coming out through your skin. This balloon has several chambers within it similar to how an orange has compartments. A radiation seed is inserted by a machine into each chamber for approximately 2 minutes each. Within 15 minutes your treatment is over and you go back home. 10 treatments in 5 days, verses daily treatments for 6 weeks with regular radiation treatments. I am now helping to comfort other women as they contemplate or prepare to go through this same procedure. I am listed on the V...Expand for more
oices Of Mammosite.Com web site, where other women can read my story and contact me for support. My message to everyone, men and women alike, is if you or a loved one is not up to date on your mammograms/physical exams, please make an appointment today. Early detection is your best chance for a full recovery and a long life. My mass was only 0.8 cm in size and was not felt upon professional or self examination. Getting annual mammograms saved my life! I just celebrated my 15 th year anniversary since being diagnosed. We created S & L Development Corp and created an up-market housing sub-division from our 12 acre property. Our cul-de-sac name is Achates Court (also my Kennel name for our Bostons) and the sub-division name is Northern Exposure. We have sold 10 of the 12 available lots with several homes are presently being built. After my Mothers passing in 2017, we sold our home and moved further out in the country and have been busy making this house into our “home”. We’ve added 2 fireplaces, built a 15’ X 29’ addition to connect our home to what was the completely finished detached garage, set up a 7 run kennel with an epoxy floor, new flowerbeds, moved 22 trees from our development that would have been destroyed during the creation of our development,. This new room is my dog room/office where I spend most of my time. I hope everyone had a great time at our 50th Reunion, which I was unable to attend. But we are still running 3 businesses and had several home improvement projects we were trying to get completed before winter hits. I was sad to hear we have lost 23 classmates. May they rest in peace! One great accomplishment has been our Grandson Quinn. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was wrapped around an artery in his left temporal lobe. After watching it for several years, his .Medical team at Hershey decided they had to operate. God was overseeing his surgery as everything went perfectly. He then graduated from LS and also graduated from Millersville State College. He just received his Teaching Certificate and was hired at LS as a substitute teacher until a permanent position is available. You got this Quinn!!!
