Sunshine's Story

Life What a ride. Where life takes you, boy is it amazing. For me, pure beauty. Hawaii of all places. From good old Lomita, Ca. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. I married a "Local Boy", Hawaiian Portuguese. We met back in 1992. He is a Police Seargeant for the City and County of Hawaii. We have 1 beautiful daughter, Malia Kaleikaumaka, who is now 6 yrs old. I moved to Kailua, Oahu in 1995, then moved to the Big Island in 2000. It is quite beautiful here, and I don't think I'll ever move back. Since graduating, I have been a student, a bartender, make-up artist, hairdresser, loan officer and now a corporate buyer. I sure do miss the good old days of high school and just being a kid. We had it so good back then. No responsibilities, just the beach, parties, friends and fun. And of course, the dreaded homework. But that wasn't too bad. My wish would be to relive 1986-1991. I would appreciate the moments and be more considerate to who loved me. Those years were some good times and bad times, but times never regreted. I would go back in a heartbeat, just to have one more moment and make all that was wrong, right. I think that when people look back at high school, it takes them back to all their "Firsts". What I mean is... your first taste of freedom.. your first car...your first party... your first kiss....your first love... your first job... your first broken heart. All the firsts of how it was that...You became who You are now. All of your first experiences of life. Everything and every step you took to get you where you are today. It's nostalgic...it just takes you back to the simple things. The beginning of your path. There's no rewind in life. So be careful, and grasp the opportunity now, to tell those you love how you feel about them. Do it. Don't wait. Even if there was/is heartache and pain. Clear your doubts and start fresh. It may be the best thing you ever do for yourself. Life never came with directions, and the choices you made as a juvenile were senseless some of the time, and other times, done without knowing the consequences. Adolescence is a learning period in life. A time when you learn what NOT to do. In time, eventually, you get it. That is...the path..the directions of life. That which our parents were supposed to teach us...(but we never wanted or had time to listen)...the reasons for which we'd make good decisions and become productive members of society. The guidance to make good choices comes with time and experience. You sure don't realize that right away. And when you do, sometimes it's too late. Some parents guide you and...Expand for more
some do not. But kids, now and then, always think they know the directions. I'm sure you remember hearing this before...."When I was your age, I"....and rolled your eyes. I was one of those kids and boy, do I have a map to prove it. In most cases, I was a good kid. I tried to make my parents proud. I was a good student. But, I wish I could have been a better friend. And to those I have hurt, I'm very sorry. I truly am. It's so true, that time sure does fly by. So be sure to make right with life and move forward knowing you tried to make amends. Here's some great advice given to me, and now to you. Enjoy each day, cuz LIFE ROCKS! Live in the moment, and try not to think too much about the past, cuz it will ruin the present. Love and happiness is what matters most. This life is too short to have it any other way. Tell the people you love, whoever they might be, how much you love them. Do it now, and don't wait till it's too late. You may never get another chance. It's so funny to me, that when your young...you wish you were an adult and when your an adult....you wish you could be young again. Age is so bittersweet. I see so much of me in my daughter. It scares me how fast she is growing up. It's like that song from Kenny Chesney, "Don't Blink". The words are so true. "Best start putting first things first. Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand You can't flip it over and start again Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth Life Goes Faster Than You Think." I'm very thankful for how my life has turned out. As a family friend put it..."I am an apple that fell far from the tree." I could only hope, my daughter, Malia, feels the same as she becomes an adult. I hope she looks back at her childhood and has wonderful memories. I personally, wish she would stay little forever. :) I never realized how much I could love someone like this. Each day is a blessing and to be called, "Mama" is my greatest achievement yet. Her smile fills me. It's what I look forward to each day. Love and happiness IS DEFINITELY what matters most. So take in each moment as if it were the last and cherish it. Any way, I can't wait to hear from ANYBODY!! FOR GOD's SAKE! Why does it take 15-20 years to keep in touch or attempt to keep in touch? I hope everyone is doing well. Please drop me a line, I'd love to hear from any friends that remember me. You know who you are. 808 443-3186 cell A Hui Hou (Until we meet again!)
