Susan's Story

Life Oct. 10,2010 I am going to start over on my story. I moved around to much while growing up. I went to many schools all across the South. I made many friends and then had to leave them behind, but now have found out not for ever after all like I had always thought thanks to Classmates. I am pleased to find people that remember me for as the older I get I seem to think on my childhood more and more especially the time I spent in Florida City, Florida in 1968-69. I have reconnected with some of my very best friends again. I got married when I was 15 in May 1970. My husband was going to Vietnam and wanted me to marry him before he left because he was afraid I wouldn't be waiting on him when he got back if not. My father had a massive heart attack in May of 1969 and knew he didn't have long to live and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. He passed away Oct. 1972. I had my first son Brian in March 1973, my second son Ashley in June 1977 and my daughter Leila in Nov. 1980. I went back to school when Leila started kindergarden and became a LPN. My first marriage lasted for 18 years. I married Mark in Oct.1989 and moved to Northern Virginia where my husband was from. We lived there for 17 years until my husband retired. We moved back to Georgia to a small town called Adel. We love it here where it is quite and peacefull. We have 5 acres where we live and also own 6 acres across town where Ashley and Leila are living. My husband seems to be working more now that he is retired than when he was working before. Between up keep of both places and his pecan trees he stays pretty busy. I decided to quit working back in 2003 so now I stay at home. I have 3 Granddaughters Brianne who is 13, Grace who is 3, and Olivia who is almost 2 and a grandson Owen who is 3. All of them except for Grace live nearby. Gracie lives in Virginia. I have found several of my best friends through classmates. Dec.1,2009 My son Ashley age 32 collapsed on Oct. 14, 2009 from a Ruptured Brain Aneurysm on his Rt frontal lobe behind his right eye. He made it to the local Hospital then was transferred to the Hospital i...Expand for more
n Macon Ga. He had a procedure call a coilazation where they ran wire up into the Rupture to seal it off and to stop the bleeding form blood clots on the wire to make it stronger. If this holds up then he won't have to have open Brain Surgery. He was in NICU for 3 weeks while in there he came down with double pneumonia and was placed on a ventilator for 5 days. When he got out of NICU he went to the floor for a week then got to go home. He came home with minor vision problems and short term memory loss. Please pray with us that he will continue to get better and won't have to have the open Brain Surgery. We have seen God's love and mercy working with our family these last few months. Ashley is a miracle from God . If God had not intervened Ashley would not still be with us.All the Doctors have said they didn't know how he survived except by a miracle from God. So we had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day. Dec.10,2009 Ashley went back for a follow-up with his Neurologist Tues. He said he had a feeling that the coils was not holding up and that he thought he would have to have the open Brain Surgery. He will go in the Hospital on Jan.6,2010 for preop work and on Jan.7. 2010 they will do an arteriogram of the Brain to find out for sure. Please pray with my family for God's will to be done. I know he has brought us this far and I know he won't let us down now. Jan.2010 Ashley had the open Brain surgery and did fine, but they could not clip the aneurysm so they put more coils in then 2 weeks later they put in a Neurological Stint. Sept. 2010 Ashley went back and had to have more coils inserted. The bleeding still has not stopped. The Doctor took him off of blood thinners and now we hope the clots will form on the coils for he is now maxed out on having coils. He cannot have any more coils. If the clots don't form and stop the bleeding their only option is to use some kind of glue. But I can say by the Grace of God he is doing well with only the same problems as in the beginnig. We treasure each and every day that we still have him. We know God has great things in store for him.
