Susan's Story
Hi, sorry I can't be at our 40th! Let's see. Went to SF State, where I also worked for many years. Had two great kids I adore, Catherine, now 34 and Robbie, 28, and now a new son-in-law. Also, a rambunctious Bengal kitty named Richard Parker. Raising those two was a challenge, but I'm super proud of the people they grew up to be. Married a great guy in 2003, even though I swore I'd never do that again. Moved from San Mateo to Philadelphia in 2007. Survived very serious third stage cancer and treatment in 2010, and now try to help friends and loves who are fighting challenges with nutrition, yoga/meditation/visualization routines and moral support. rting my dissertation on jazz and improvisational politics as agency, because I knew I'd actually have to have fun and be interested in my topic in order to finish--it's hard to do this at this age!). And I really, really love my students in Political Philosophy and other things. I figure if I can brainwash..., I mean teach something worthwhile and get college kids engaged in their world, then there might be a shred of hope for our future. I still like to think of myself as "unfinished," like my "then" picture.
I'm also kind of tripping on the fact that we're older than our parents were the last time many of us saw each other.... Wish you all well. I get home to visit Mom and family 2 or 3 times a year, so let me know next time we're doing something.
