Susan's Story
things are changing rapidly right now; me and bam bam (my very shy himalayan kittie) are finally leaving california, after 25 very long years. I need to see seasons again and not see graffitti and shaved head wanna be gang bangers. someone once said i was lucky to live in beautiful california. problem is, you cant see california for all the houses, cars, freeways and smog. now it is just too crowded, too noisy and too mean. am glad to head back east, this time to minnesota. have never been there but am looking forward to beautiful leaves in the fall and snowballs to throw at my friend. this is my 61st birthday present to myself.
bam bam has never been away from california, so snow should be a real experience. normally, he never goes outside, but i plan to take him out with a leash and see what he thinks of all that white stuff.
would love to hear from more classmates; it is fun to catch up and feel like home again.
later: have been through my first winter and loved it. did not even buy a winter coat, just used my long sweater. but will have to buy gloves next winter because zero degrees hurts my hands and nails. now spring has spru...Expand for more
ng and there are canadian geese everywhere. i cannot wait to see the babies swimming after their mommys. we have lots of beautiful lakes all over the city. absolutely DO NOT miss california!!
note: kept looking for little geese babies. turns out the babies are HUGE and fuzzy and all over the place.
much later: 2nd winter had a lot more snow than the first winter and i fell down again on the ice. so far that is the only complaint i have about this place. bam bam is COLD, even with 4 inches of hair. he spent most of the winter under the covers.
am now officially retired and moved into a senior building (cheap rent). am beginning to meet some people my own age. the place is small but in tip top condition; i am on the 8th floor and can see for miles if you do not count the acres of trees in the way. bam bam is adjusting and seems to be okay with the new digs. has found a hidy hole in the closet so i generally know where he is. he can sit on the window sill, but makes me put him up there and will not get there on his own;; talk about lazy and spoiled. so life is now into the next chapter (last?).
would love to hear from more people
