Susan's Story
Life
I am living in Benton, married for 27 years, 2 sons - a senior in college at LA Tech and a senior at Benton High School, both graduating in 2007! I spend my time with my husband, kids and volunteering at my church. I've work full-time for 17 years as an executive secretary. We lead a quite life, nothing glamorous or exciting. I still talk with my best friend, Cathy Baranik Scott and see other school mates from time to time. I go out to eat with Sissy Rains Helmka at least twich a month. I was diagnosed with Stage III Colon Cancer in March 2005. I had surgery and chemotherapy and as of March, 2007 I am cancer free. Life has been good and I have no regrets.
Update 2-22-08. My oldest son graduated from college in May 2007, married in July 2007 and just had a baby 2-21-08 so now I'm a grandmother! I'm thrilled! My youngest son is finishing up his...Expand for more
2nd quarter a Tech and has made the Dean's list both times. My husband and I have been truly blessed with our children and look forward to our years as grandparents. My cancer still remains in remission.
Update 9-19-08 To be honest, high school was not the best time for me. I only had a few close friends, I certainly was not part of the "popular" crowd and was never asked out on a single date from someone at our school. I never attended a homecoming or prom. How sad that time was for me to feel as though I wasn't worthy of at least one male person in our class showing an interest in me. Like many of our generation, my sadness was alleviated with alcohol and drugs. High School can be cruel. It's amazing how 30 years can change your perspective on life and how those experiences can help mold you into the person you become. Again, I have no Regrets. :)
