Susan's Story
It's hard to believe that 20 years have already come and gone. After graduation, I worked as a waitress at Waffle House in Martinsville. That's where I met the man that I wanted to share the rest of my life with. It sounds like a country song, "I married my waitress". Anyway, I repeatedly asked him if he needed anything else (like 15 times, I'm surprised that he didn't think I was nuts!). After several "no's", he finally said, "Yeah, a date for dinner tonight". We were married 5 months later. We have 6 children of our own and have fostered several children in our home. We have been foster parents for 3 years. Needless to say, there is never a dull or quiet moment at our house. When my husband or I ask "Who did this, or how did that happen" we sing this Christmas song to each other (it's a running joke at our home) "We don't live in a quiet house, without Big Bird or Mickey Mouse, Kool-aid on the couch, Thank God for kids". Our oldest will be 18 in July and our youngest is 5. Ofcourse, our 5 yr old daughter thinks she rules the roost. I have been a stay at home mom for 18 years and am truly...Expand for more
thankful to my husband for making that possible. My free time is spent running to different activities, 4-H, church, swim practice, piano lessons, Dr's /dentist appts. and all the things Moms do. We have horses and they are my "I need to get away before I go crazy" therapy. I love to ride and spend time with the horses. I know, it's a girl thing, right? As a family, we like to go quad riding, bicycle riding, camping, watch movies and wrestle around on the floor.
I would love to see Mrs. Trueblood (Theater/Discusion & Debate teacher),
and Mrs. Hardin (my choir director) and one teacher I will never forget is Mr. Kuntz or was it Koontz. I don't remember, but those of you who had him know who I'm talking about. What a truly sad day it was when he passed away. If I could do High School over agin, I would be more involved in sports, musicals, etc. I always felt like a nobody in school and was afraid to try out for anything.
I would love to hear from old friends or anyone who remembers me. Feel free to contact me at susanbower at yahoo. I look forward to hearing what everyone has been up to these days.
