Susan's Story

Life I am married and have two sons, 18 years apart. God really does have a sense of Humor. My older boy is 41 yrs old in July, got married ,on 19 May 2006 to Jaimie Chan. They are both Graphic Artists for Computer Game Companies. My younger son is 22 in October, leaning to the same field. I am completing my post graduate studies in Massage and Holistic Arts. Am working in reservations and Trainer for Amtrak. Love the traveling when I can. Have been singing with a Folk group, enjoy that a lot. Spend weekends on my Husbands Harley and movies with my boys when I'm not studying or sewing. Have spent a lot of time on Genealogy. I have traced my father's family back to the 1500's and have a certificate naming us as part of the Origins of the New Mexico Families. I always wanted to be a NUN when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a BAD idea. As it turns out, they were RIGHT. I don't know what life would be like without my husband and my boys and daughter-in-law And my new Grandson Jimi. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to family and friends, then spend the rest on traveling, real estate and BOTOX HA HA. Helen Monge is my oldest and dearest friend. We met at Fleming before 7th grade started. She was skating and I started skating with her. We spent the whole summer stealing my brothers' stingray bikes and going to NewBerrys to buy material or to the bakery to buy creme puffs and R C Colas. She's always been there for me through THICK AND THIN. Too bad I'm the one that's thick and she's still thin! My first job was at the Stock Market at Torrance Financial District , where I got paid $1.35 an hr to type envelopes. What I remember most about it is I decided I liked working there and being with people that dressed up everyday. I guess Mr Nelson from Fleming typing class would be proud of his constantly nagging me on the typewriter. I play Mahjong on the computer before going to bed. It blows off any bad movie or conversations I may have had during the day. I still like to line my eyes with black pencil. I don't wear a lot of makeup because it shows all the lines in my face. I wish I could get away with wearing a mini skirt. I was never blessed with thin legs. I do wear shorts though. Love to go bear footed. I can still feel the sand on the bottom of my feet. Just like at Avenue I. T-Shirts were not in but cotton cloths were the in thing and I can't wear too much else. I would never get into the hip hugger bell bottoms I used to wear. I WISH! I'm a New Grandma. Baby Jimmy is almost a year ...Expand for more
old and I miss every day I don't get to see him. He's just soooo wonderful. I learned from my kids that discipline doesn't have to be hard and that speaking your mind doesn't mean you are being disrespectful. There are so many people in the world whose parents didn't show real love or affection by hugs or positive feedback that are mentally not able to give and receive love. I never lived in a dorm but stayed in a dorm at a college conference. I had my own room but the other students made their's coed and pushed all the furniture to one side to have a huge party. WE PAID FOR IT THE NEXT DAY AT THE CONFERENCE. My current age is 58. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be calm and payerful, retired and gardening, Watching their grandchildren and not out partying and dressing up to go out.. I was so completely cluless, I think I haven't realized that people live according to how they can and are physically able. I do have friends that have ailments that keep them from doing things but as a whole people are more productive and in good health so they keep going. To concerts, dinners, family dinners and gatherings and sharing responsibility for both their Parents and their Grandchildren.. I am blessed to have both my parents although my mother has Alzheimer's and my father gets a little difficult, I remember them being there when I needed them and I will do the best I can for them. I have suffered by losing 2 siblings in my lifetime something no one ever hopes to encounter. It is hard to lose someone you are close to. The memories keep us from falling apart through the years and a good support system is everything, friends and loved ones are a real blessing. I thank you all who have been there for me or who remember me in your own way. (even if i don't remember all that you do) Thank you for your sharing and contacting me it is always special to be remembered. My hero was my husband Pete, I lost him last year and just can't get past it. After sharing so much with him for 40 plus years, it's hard to think of life without him. He was always there to protect me and kept me safe from harm. My mentor and safety net, I hope he loves heaven, that's where he deserves to be. I Lost my Mom 4 months after my husband and it has been odd not having her here. She truly better be in Heaven or I'm not going. She was my mentor and confidant and my support system, it's hard to be with out that. I'm glad she got to know my boys and see my grandson. She was the most loving and compassionate person ever to walk this earth.
