Susan's Story
Life
Hawaii is where I started high school...I came to Leilehua in the 7th grade and left Leilehua in 10th grade to go to Waipahu for a month, after moving to Pearl City. I then went to St. Francis in Manoa Valley for the rest of the 10th grade before returning to mainland for 11th and 12th grades.I graduated from Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.I attended Del Mar Jr. College before leaving the Corpus area with my family to move to St. Louis, Mo. That Fall I started flying for Delta Airlines.I was a flight attendant based in Houston, Miami, and Atlanta; flying in the U. S. and Europe. Never stopped missing Leilehua, St. Francis and the Islands. Retired from Delta Airlines as a flight attendant in Nov. 2001 after 35 years. Moved to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas to be near my parents and trying to "bloom where I am planted." I miss the Islands so much and wish I could have retired there...oh, well it's still nice to stay in touch! I am single and starting to feel like putting...Expand for more
down some roots after a lifetime of traveling. Not sure if this is the place I am meant to put down those roots but only time will tell. I live in a lovely old house built in 1912 and spend any free time and money fixing it up. I have 3 dogs,7 cats, a pond full of goldfish,7 chickens, a duck, a parakeet and a cockatiel! Finding antiques and reading are my interests when the weather is cold. I live in a beautiful area where there is hiking, canoeing, and hunting available. Don't get a lot of free time as I am taking care of my mother as caregiver. Still dreaming of returning to the only place that has ever felt like home...I am now in the process of returning to Hawaii to live. Selling house, having to find homes for most of my critters because I am only taking 2 cats with me, and down sizing big time and selling/donating all most everything thing I own. Decided it is now or never to finally live my dream of returning to the islands. Tired of the cold winters and not living in a place I love!!! :)
