Susan's Story
Life
I grew up in an Italian family who came from the Bronx to CT (for some reason). I was born and raised in New London and lived my first 23.5 years in the same house. I attended St. Mary's school from kindergarten until 8th grade and went to New London High after that. My junior year I got a job working at Bradlees department store at the New London Mall. After graduating from high school I continued to work at Bradlees and also worked at a gov't office in Groton as a summer hire for 2 years. In May of 1997, I left Bradlees and was hired full-time at the Defense Contract Audit Agency and have been working there ever since. Got married in July of 2006 and divorced in December of 2009. I started dating the true love of my life and friend of 20 years in 2010. We got engaged Memorial Day Weekend 2011 and married April 29, 2012. ...Expand for more

School
I attended St. Mary's school in New London from 1982 to 1991. After that, public school for me graduating from New London High School in 1995.
Workplace
During my junior year at New London High school, I started working at Bradlees in New London as a sales associate. My senior year, the Business Department teachers contacted me with a job announcement at DCAA. I started working as an administrative assistant at DCAA as a 'stay-in-school' hire right after graduating during the summer of 1995 (while continuing to work at Bradlees). The summer of 1996 I was called back to work at DCAA as a summer-hire. Shortly afterwards I took the civil service exam and the paperwork was processed and I quit Bradlees in May of 1997 and started full-time at DCAA. I have been there ever since and consider myself to be very lucky!
