Susan's Story

Life 3 adult daughters, 7 grandchildren (6 boys and 1 girl). We daycare 4 of the grandkids while my middle daughter was attending nursing school, she graduated in July 2009, and is taking some time off to be with the kids before going back to work. I am divorced from my daughters father, and live with a woman I met online, more than 13 years ago. Professionally: I'm an astrologer and writer. I've been lucky enough to travel the world a bit, and continue to do so. Though right now, my biggest accomplishment seems to be watching the generations doing well. (Soccer Grandma, Cheerleader Grandma... you name it, I support it in the name of the kids) We live in Florida and hold season tickets to Universal Orlando, and of course, Disney. Theme park enthusiasts! When you live less than 50 minutes from the parks, it just seems wrong not to go often. Most fun in recent years: a cruise (a gift from my middle daughter, to say "thanks" for watching her kids. Dare I tell her I'd pay to do so?) I'm a diabetic, who's survived cancer. Overall, my only regret was in not taking better care of my body when I was younger. Nobody told me I'd go to bed and wake up 40 years older. Geeze. Youngest grandson, Troy, born with multiple heart defects, has shocked and amazed pretty much everybody (and his cardiologist is writing him up for the journals).... He's recently been take...Expand for more
n off all meds, and while the mitral valve is still malformed, it's not regurgitating at all anymore, and he's living a pretty darn normal life. At 27 months, he's not big on talking yet, so I'm teaching him to sign, he has a signing ability of about 200 words and now combines them on his own to make sentences; ASL has gone a long way to opening doors for him. (Today, he actually signed that he wanted me to make him a cup of coffee. He IS my grandson, for sure!) TROY UPDATE: April, 2010, Troy has thrived, caught up in speech (he talks non-stop now, using English, Spanish And sign language) and he's physically doing extremely well. I'm again reminded that I have been seriously blessed in this lifetime! The "Story Wizard" suggests I write about how I hope old friends remember me.... And I'd have to say, I'm surprised if anybody DOES remember me. I felt as if I got thru school without being noticed at all by anybody. My dearest friends "back then" would have been Gayle Buchanan, Elizabeth and Kathy Gilman, Alberta Blanchard. I hope they are ALL happy, I hope they think of me on occasion and at least wonder about how Susan is; And I hope they realize how much their friendship meant to me, how, even today, memories return and I fill up with joy, knowing that we were sincerely good friends. And.... I kept your secrets, each and every one of you, I swear <eg>
