A Love Letter Twenty years ago I would have said what a long strange trip its been (trite, these old Dead catch-phrases are kind of like a not-so-secret handshake). Now, all I can say is wow. If the last 35 years were like that, what the hell are the next going to be like? I'm breathless. If you ever knew me, and about 7 of you did, I haven't changed, not one iota. I got real straight when I started having kids, and then the day came around that my 25 and 27 year old sons were calling me from upstairs saying, hey mom, we just rolled a blunt . . . come on up. Okay, so I'm still a Deadhead, but the horizons have opened up. That is the grace of bearing children. You get to share their world, their music, the whole damn thing. It gives me hope in the future.
