The GATEKEEPER mentality is one each of us should consider as we guard our hearts and minds...if we are not on guard against evil, we will be influenced by it... Paul tells us in (I Cor. 3:16-17) that our bodies are God's temple, and many forces are at work to assault his dwelling place. Evil will gain a foothold through unfortified areas of our spiritual life. We must be on guard againt the enemy of our soul and never give place to the devil (Eph. 4:27). The criteria for what MAY enter is found in (Philip 4:8)...whatever is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy, think on (fill your mind with) these things. The peace that comes from meditating on these will guard our hearts and minds.
