Susan's Story

So how do you summarize 30 years ......... I went o UBC and got a BSN in Nursing and had a lot of fun - kind of came out of my shell a bit Then I worked for 3 years at Vancouver General EXPO 86 got me kind of thinking about moving somewhere smaller Took at 6 month term job in Watson Lake Yukon in July 1986 6 month term job kind of kept on going and I really grew to like the small town lifestyle population 1500 454 KM from the nearest place that is any size - Whitehorse pop 31,000 1991 I met my husband to be Dale and his 2 kids (9 and 12) in Watson Lake 1993 we bought a house 1994 our daughter was born 1995 we were married Raised 3 terrific kids - Chad is 30 and works here at our science center as the technician for the projectors etc Leslie is 27 - lives in Calgary - has a degree in Kinesiology and is heading off to Nursing School - she is an Ironman Triathlete Amber is 15 - we have home schooled her for the past 3 years - she is a drama queen and the stage is her life - she attended a Music Theatre Dance intensive semester in Whitehorse last year and is accepted back for ...Expand for more
next semester for Grade 11 - she plans to do a degree in theatre :) She is involved in Girl Guides, 4H, Ski Patrol, Life guarding riding her horse and currently learning to drive. Dale was a taxidermist when I met him and has been on Search and Rescue, ambulance and worked as a Justice of the Peace and Coroner - he is unfortunately now on a disability pension cause of a bad back and is unable to work I still work full time currently as the Nurse in Charge of our Health Center but for the past 22 years I was in charge of the hospital and the health center We have a 2 story log home on 1.5 acres on a lake stocked with trout We love camping and fishing and hunting Outside of work I am involved with Girl Guides, 4H, our community youth theatre programs, the Riding Association, Ski Club executive and other community volunteering - I enjoy crafts, scrap booking and reading - I still enjoy photography for fun We have currently 2 cats and a horse - we are currently dogless as both our old dogs dies this year but usually have a couple of dogs too I think that is about it in a nutshell!
