Susan's Story
After graduating McKinley HS in 1970 (1 yr. early) I went to a 2 year women's jr. college in Bristol, VA. After that graduation, I moved with 2 college friends to Park City, UT and worked for Park City Ski Resort for 3 seasons. I bought my first horse and worked for a riding stable in the summers. From there I moved to South Lake Tahoe, CA and worked for Sahara Tahoe Casino as a switchboard operator (talked to Elvis!-shows how old we are). After about 9 months I decided to finish college and to please my family, I went closer to home - Findlay College in Findlay, Ohio. While there I met my future husband (from Chicago area) who had just started working for Marathon Oil Co. in Findlay. I graduated as he was getting transferred to Michigan so we went there together, but the next transfer was only 1 year later. We got married and headed west for the Pe...Expand for more
cos River and plateaus of Iraan, Texas. We spent 8 years there and had our 1st son. Next transfer was to Lafayette, LA for 4 years where we had a 2nd son. In 1992, it was off to Cypress, TX. We lived on 5 acres where we raised our sons and had 2 Andalusian horses, a border collie and 2 cats. We purchased a 2nd home on Mustang Island near Corpus Christi. After a couple of years of retirement, my husband wanted to move to the mountains. In 2021 we purchased a home in Mountain Green, Utah. Since I had lived in the area in the 70s, several of my relatives have moved here, including my sister. We're enjoying the skiing, hiking, beautiful mountain sceneries, and the fact that friends and relatives want to come visit. We still have the beach house in Texas and our sons are in Austin, so we go back and forth from mountains and beaches. Life is good!
