Susan's Story

Life I was quiet and shy in high school, though I've overcome that, and did public speaking. I've been happily married for 45 years, have 2 sons, one married, and an adorable grandson and beautiful grandaughter around whom the world revolves. We live in the Wausau area, and have a home on Hilton Head Island which draws us there more and more. I retired from Hospice in 2004, so we are more free to travel. I am a writer and had a column in the newspaper for almost 20 years. I hope to continue work on my novel, but rarely make time. I've started painting and found that my lack of talent does not keep me from being prolific and enjoying the experience. I've actually sold two paintings - no accounting for taste I guess. We are in good health, though things continue to fall off, out or down and we have to go in for repairs. I had some good friends in high school, and wanted to get to know others better, but was too shy. It has been nice to read about the people who fulfilled their dreams. Most of my dreams came true too ...Expand for more
- except I never did star in West Side Story on Broadway. The photo I posted was taken by our son Matt on Hilton Head Island: Mike, Chris, Sam, Matt, me, Claudia and Anne. Matt takes great photos and since he now lives there too, we have some amazing photos. The grandkids are used to smiling on cue. I do not have a bucket list, but if I did, it would be to spend as much time as possible with friends and family. That's where my real joy is found. Sure I'd like to go to Italy, but I still haven't bought a ticket, so there. I attended the 50th Reunion and thought it was great. It was fun catching up with people, and I truly missed those who weren't there. I wish everyone could have come. What I thought was an awkward and sometimes painful time in my life is now history and has been replaced with memories of those same people who shared that, but now at a time in life when "stuff" doesn't matter, but people do. We had so many truly nice people in our class. I would love to hear from anyone from our 1964 graduating class.
