Susan's Story
Hello to all.
In the past 50 years I had the priviledge to serve in two branches of the military. Went into the USAF in 1966, met my husband at the end of that tour, 1970. We had two children, one of each, and I picked up amy AA degree. In 1980 I went back into the servce in the USN and while there got my BS degree in psyc. Left the servce to join another branch of service, one to God. Went to Semeniary in OK. and was ordained in 1989. We were called in Iowa to serve a church, and I moved around from charge to charge (the United Methodist tradition moves their clergy about). I retired in 2008. We have a big 100 year old home, and one of my hobbies is woodworking, so I get to do a lot of repairs. I was...Expand for more
retired for 2 whole months and then took on a small rural community church outside Maquoketa, IA where we live. Two years ago I took on their sister church for 2 services a month...it's just part time, so I can play with repairs in our home and art work and classes.
My husband, Ray and I will celebrate 43 years of marriage in June, and we are still having fun and act like kids. I do notice that we both move a bit slower and the kid inside seems to get us in trouble with the body outside at times. Our son and daughter are married, and live in Iowa as well. We have grandcats, and have two adopted cat-kids at home.
Life is good, we plan to be at the 50th reunion.
