I began my college career just like everyone else. My plan was to go to SCCC, get my associates degree, and then continue on to Stony Brook for my bachelors degree- probably teaching English or something along those lines. In my fourth semester at Suffolk, I was involved in a minor car accident. I was out for a couple of weeks with a concussion and whiplash, but it was the excuse I needed to drop out. I tried to go again in the fall, but my momentum and ambition was lost. So, I went on with my life, working at my Dad's family business alongside my 6 brothers, getting married, having children- the usual. Fast forward to June of 2000: our oldest son graduated from High School and was starting college in the Fall. The voice in my head suddenly became audible, and I registered at Suffolk to complete my Associates degree. The Western Campus of Suffolk Community College, finally finished by that time, is about ¾ of a mile from our business in Brentwood. I couldn't ask for an easier trip!
