Susan's Story

Dec 2019 Well, I’m back. Life sometimes give you lemons, but you just stand strong and move forward. Life IS good! April 2016 Catching up on things. My grandson just got back a a motorcycle and started racing again. His sister also took up racing. Won a few so far. She still is doing the English riding shows too. It's all about grandkids when we get to that stage. My sons three boys are in every sport you can do. Good thing they are to big for me to pick them up anymore. They think grandma is in great shape.LOL We are at that chapter in my live and see that life goes by pretty fast. Every year it goes by faster. I have lost my grandparents, mother,dad,aunts,uncles,cousins,in-laws and friends. I am very fortunate to still have my brother and sisters. We keep in touch often. We still have our motorcycles and looking forward to this summer. That's one thing I can still do😊 Ok,I'll say goodbye until next time. July 2015 As you may have heard our grandson, Tucker, was in a motorcycle accident last month. Broke his back. He has rods and built a cage to make him a new vertebrae . He has been in Craig Hospital incColorado for rehab. They have got him standing but not without help. Coming back home next week to do therapy in Reno until he gets as good as new. Thanks for all your prayers. May 2015 Will be celebrating our 47th anniversary this year. Still have our motorcycles. Rode to all the National Parks in Utah last year. Went to Tahiti and cruised the islands. Fun fun trip. Swam with Sharks and Stingrays, it was fabulous! Our grandson was invited by ESPN to race Endurocross X-Games in Austin, TX June 5th. May 2013 Well, the snow is gone, got our motorcycles out for the summer. Hoping to ride them a lot this summer. Last year the wind stopped us quite a bit from riding like we would like to. Grandson has a busy racing schedule this year. He turned pro now so he's up there with the big boys. Going to be an exciting summer! Cassie is gun hoe in her horse Norman. Taking up English riding so that is keeping grandma busy too! Our 3 younger grandsons who live in Merced are into NASCAR. The 8 year old is ahuge fan. He knows all the drivers names, numbers and sponsors. He can tell you when and where they are racing next AND tell you who won Daytona last year! He a great basketball player and his daddy is one of his coaches. Cooper will be starting kindergarten next year and can hardly wait to be old enough to play basketball. Colton ,3, loves NASCAR and his favorite drivers are Montoya and Danica Patrick .. They boys have all the race cars of the drivers, and have there own race every week. They even sing the National anthem and do a fly-over! It is awesome to watch. Aug 2012 It's been a while, summer is almost over. Last winter we went to Lake Havasu for the winter. Spent three months down there with our motorcycles. Went all over Route 66 and enjoyed ourselves very much. Our grandson is still racing motorcycles. We follow him as much as we can. He's heading to Big Sky this week. He's 15 now. Granddaughter is into horses, gave up the ballet,. LOL What a change that was! Enjoying water-skiing still. Taught the grand-kids how to ski on a single. I have 3 grandsons living in Merced. See them when we get the change. Going to ride our bikes through Yosemite, always a beautiful ride. Had our reunion last year. Got to see a lot of classmates I hadn't seen in many years. Really enjoyed seeing them. Keeping in touch with some of them still. Funny how that goes. Don't see them since granduation and suddenly you want to keep in touch. Well, I thank God for keeping my family healthy. July19, 2011 Well, I think summer was here for a week. Trying to do our best to enjoy it. Have been riding our motorcycles a lot, even if it is windy. Been riding up around Gold Lake, La Porte, Brownsville, Downieville, Chester, Westwood, Greenville, Frenchman Lake and any other place.Always nice to ride to Loyalton for their malts. If they aren't open we head to Sierraville for a drink. (Pepsi) Stop and have a bite to eat at some interesting places that are unique. Took a few days to the Peppermill and did the ball game, movie thing. Went to Virginia City for the day. The one thing good was the weather was just right. In the 70's. Been boating and taking the grandkids watersking and wake-boarding. We go to a nice small lake and the water is warm. Looking forward to our big class reunion in August. Hope to see you there. June 10, 2011 Can't believe our summer hasn't got here yet. Have our motorcycles out and just waiting for the good weather. We have taken them out once, we had one nice day so far. Waiting for the lakes to warm up so we can do some boating and camping. Grandson is still doing his motorcycle racing up and down the west. Grand-daughter is getting ready for her ballet recital this week. Got lots of plans ahead for the rest of the year. Have a big class reunion in Oroville in August. Hope to see a lot of old friends there. Dec 2010 Wow! Had a great summer. We decided to get a ski boat to spend time with the grand kids. Taught them how to ski on one ski. Did a lot of camping and boating. What a joy it is to spend time with the family. Took a few weeks off from the family and went to PV Mexico with a few of my friends. Put the motorcycles away for another year. Got the snow blower out now. Yuck! All settled in for the winter just like my squirrels in my back yard. lol Grandson is racing his motorcycle on Catalina Island this weekend. July 2010 Having a very busy summer. Riding our motorcycles as much as we can. Went camping at Eagle Lake with daughter a few weeks ago. I rode my motorcycle up behind her 5th wheel. Had a lot of road work on the way up. Took a few rides over to Tahoe last week. Very nice riding on motorcyles. Had a great time with my sister, daughter and friend on a cruise to Mexico. Got to see an old classmate in Mazatlan. He showed us some interesting foods and places to see. April 2010 It's already the 10th and it's our grandson's 5th birthday today. He's having a big party and he's all excited. Dick and I have been enjoying retirement. Went on a cruise last month and then on to Lake Havasu for a couple weeks. Nice and sunny there. We still are getting snow here where we live. Not to much, just enough to make a mess.lol Making plans to go on another cruise with my daug...Expand for more
htr and sister next month. Plan on doing a lot of relaxation on this one. It will be my sister's first cruise and she is very excited. Waiting to get our motorcycles out of storage for the summer. Planning on doing some riding, boating and camping with the grandkids. DICK RETIRED FINALLY!!!! Dec. 10th!!! Time is going to fast for me. I can't seem to do everything I would like. I still ride my motorcycle and now we are going to do snowmobiling this winter. ( I thought we were suppose to leave in the winter when he retires.) Where has the time gone. Dec 4,2009 Well, I had a very exciting night at the ballet in Reno. My grandaughter performed in the Moscow Nutcracker Ballet. She played the part of a Party Kid, and an 'Angel'. It was a dream of a lifetime for her. (me too!) She is only ten. Now, another chapter in my life is beginning. My husband is retiring after 43 years with the railroad. Oh, what a grand time this will be. Hope to do some traveling and enjoying life. Merry Christmas to all my friends. October 11,2009 The summer is gone and having to put our motorcycles away for the winter. Getting ready for the snow. Have our wood in and heat strips on the roof so there won't be any ice-dams. Going to celebrate our forty-first wedding anniversary on Oct 26th! Friends, I would like you to know about our high school website. It is free and please come and check it out. Just go to 3w's lasplumas66-70 dot com We have 100 members already. YOu can connect with old classmates. It's a lot of fun. 4/09 I wasn't going to bring this up but I decided to. My mother passed away on March 31st. It was rather unexpected. She fell and broke her hip. She never did recoop. It was very very sad watching her fail before my eyes. She was in so much pain that I prayed everyday for God to please take her. My sisters and I endured this for 6 agonizing days until HE decided it was time. We will never forget the wonderful times as children having such a beautiful mom, inside and out. We will miss her always. 4/09 Winter is almost over up here. Snow is gone, but that just teases me because we always get more. Right when I don't expect it! My mom passed away on March 31st. Doing ok, time always helps. Waiting to get our motorcycles out for the summer. Can hardly wait to take our weekend rides to LaPort. Best hamburgers and beer. I'm passing my gavel to the new President of Lady Elks this Tuesday. HooYaw! Two years was my limit. Hubby is suppose to retire at the end of this year. He's said that for the last four years! Can't wait to put the deck furniture out. I have been BBQing this winter. Just push the snow away and away I go! I do the BBQing because my hubby always burns it up.LOL Always seem to do a lot of babysitting for grandkids. Of course, I love it. Daughter and hubby are cruising the end of the month. And then Wendy is going to NYC for a week. I better get my running shoes on! I haven't had time to get a vacation for us. Trying to fit in a Maui trip. It was great seeing everybody at the reunion. Keep in touch and drop a line and let me know how you are doing and what's up in your life. 3/09 I'm down here in Lake Havasu for ten days visiting my sister-in-law. Couldn't believe I found out that Linda Randall, who graduated from LP lives in Kingman. Hope other classmates try to meet up with other classmates whenever they can. It is nice seeing each other even for just a short visit. Called her up and met there at the Cracker Barrel and had a very good time remenising about old times in school. Nice being out the the snow and into 80 degree weather. Don't want to go home quite yet! 11/08 Just came back from Disneyland! Couldn't believe that it wasn't crowded. We rode so many rides till we were sick , but we would just get right back in line and GO 4 IT !! Just like a couple of kids. LOL Then we headed to Lake Havasu for 4 days. Had to get that nice warm weather in our bodies before we headed back home to the mountains. So, that it for now. 10/08 Our 40th anniversary will be here this coming weekend! Can't believe it quite myself! Going to LA to celebrate the big ocassion. The 40TH reunion at Gold Country was just the best time, It was so great meeting such wonderful people, had such a good time visiting everyone. I met so many classmates that I hadn't seen in 40 years it was just amazing how many there were. I never got to give out my regular e-mail so I'm letting my friends know how to reach me. It is... sqtrost at sbcglobal.net Hope to keep in touch with my friends. My husband said he had a really good time meeting my classmates and really enjoyed their stories they had to say. The ladies he met were very nice and could see why I want to come to my reunions. There are some way back to kindergarden. My husband graduated with a class of 13. It's just not the same he said. But, he didn't quite mind giving up the Outlaw races touring through Chico the night of my reunion. Just had to let you know we can't wait for my next reunion and see everyone again. Las Plumas rules and so glad we won the LIBERTY BELL from the Oroville High class of '68' !!! LOL Just to let you know what I am doing as of 2008. I went to Eastside School, Bird Street, Challenge School, and Central Jr High growing up. I am going on 40 years of marriage. Have a son and daughter. My son, Jeff, has a 3 year old and a 3 month old boys. My daughter has a son, Tucker, who is ten. and a daughter, Cassie, who is eight. We have lived in Portola since December of 1980. My husband is still working for Union Pacific. He loves his job and never wants to retire. He was suppose to retire three years ago. But, you can't pry him away. We both love to travel, Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico. We also have our own street bikes and we love to ride in the winding roads to LaPorte and Hwy 49. Keeping busy, as I am President of the Lady Elks for the second year. And that will soon be all behind me so I can relax for myself again. Oh, those days, how I remember them well. It will be nice to see everyone again at our reunion this year. Hope you can all make it. A childhood memory I will never forget. When my brother and sister caught polywogs and put them in a coffee can behind our wood stove. Next morning we had tiny frogs EVERYWHERE! LOL What a time we had catching them. Hundreds of them. Later, we founds some all dried up under the furniture.LOL
