Susan's Story
Five-and-a-half years into retirement and life is terrific! I don't know how I ever had time to work. I'm busy with Gloucester Master Gardeners and Tree Stewards and write a weekly gardening column for the Gloucester Gazette-Journal. I am also a member of the National League of American Pen Women and secretary for our branch. When I have time, I write some poetry and short stories.
Our younger son Joe and his daughter Emma (15 1/2) live in Great Bridge. Joe is a Lt. Commander in the Coast Guard and Emma is a fierce lacrosse player. Her mom and Emma's half-brother Zayn (2) live in Charleston SC. Our older son Mike is a Merchant Marine...Expand for more
deck officer, out to sea 6-8 months a year. Mike and his wife Liz live in Ft. Lauderdale.
Jim has, I think, finally retired after about 6 tries! He plays a lot of golf. Despite a triple bypass 3 years ago, he works out regularly with a personal trainer. I practice yoga and have attended boot camp 3 mornings a week for the last 4 years.
Our two precious cats, M Shaddow and Orlando are the lights of our lives.
Upcoming trips include the Grand Canyon in October and a month long rail/driving tour of Vienna, Prague, Budapest, and the Balkans starting in April. Can't wait.
I look forward to seeing other 1966 Crabbers on August 27th!
