Susan's Story
Life
I am living in New City N.Y. for over 4 years now...I love it. My husband is a Civil Rights Attorney in Hackensack NJ and NYC.We have been together now 12 years.
I have a BA degree in psych and certification in Education(elementary). I am subbing in local elementary schools and going for my masters. My pride and joy is my 8 yr old boy Jack who is the cutest thing you ever saw and now in third grade.
My AOl screen name is suzycracka...
School
High School brings back some great memories...and I always had the greatest friends with me wherever I went(and you know who you are). I began in Washingtonville JR/HS(upstate NY) and then spent my last two years of High School in Queens at St.Agnes.Talk about a culture shock!
I was not a great student because my priorities were screwed up I guess. I wish I would have studied(even a little), payed attention in class, took my SATs more than once, participated in sports and clubs (and perhaps learned how to play an instrument).I also would have dated many of the ones I overlooked and not spent my energy on one. I would have valued my friends even more than I did (because they were the best friends Ive ever had). I still have some friends from way back when but too many somehow slipped away.I have forgotten many names of my college buds and even people I met recently(my memory is shot from old age!), but somehow HS remains clear in my memory. Those years left the greatest impression...cant believe how long ago it was. As bad as I wanted H.S. to be...Expand for more
over(and I did), I have to say... I wouldnt have missed it for the world!
College
Immediately after high school I moved upstate (Liberty NY) and began working. I went to SCCC...my family(aunt and grandmother) are from that area so I lived mostly with them. I did live at the dorms one semester and it was a real party school.I had a great time there and made alot of great friends(would love to contact my best buds Marc Fromovitz and Keith Jansen from SCCC).I recieved an Associates degree in Liberal Arts in 1992 from SCCC.I took off semesters in between to work. I worked at the big resort hotels in the front office like the Concord(where I met my husband, who was a guest) and also was a substitute teacher in the local Libety Central schools(and loved teaching). When I saved money enough I went to New Paltz and majored in Pysch and Elementary Education. I was already engaged to my husband at New Paltz and therefore transfered to Ramapo College of NJ to be with him. I graduated Ramapo with honors and recieved a partial scholarship from the Psychology dept. I have my BA in Psych and became certified in Education.I plan to get my masters once I begin teaching (required in 5 yrs). Havent decided what graduate school but am leaning towards Columbia.
Workplace
For the past decade I MOSTLY stayed home and did the family thing. I have worked with my husband to build his law practice too. Currently I am subbing and beginning my masters. I will be looking for a permanent job soon for the next school year.
