Susan's Story
I am not sure where to begin...Right after I graduated from the nursing program at Vo-Tech, I moved to Pennsylvania with Tony. We moved back to Maryland a year later. We married in 1989. I gave birth to TJ in 1991 and Steven in 1994. We moved back to PA in 1997. We bought our first home in 2005.
I worked as a Pediatric Home Care Nurse for over 10 years, but it just got too painful. So...with a broken heart, I decided to make a change that I never thought I would ever have to make. I stopped being a patient care nurse.
I now have 3 jobs (Aside from being a wife and mom).
I work as a QA/RA Specialist for a Medical Device Manufacturer. My knowledge as a nurse helps me on a daily basis and since I am still assisting in the health of other people, it is a fair trade off. I love what I do...even with all of the chaos.
I am a DJ and Interactive Entertainer. The company I work for is fantastic! I have learned so much about myself in this job...I have an awesome voice (I DJ Karaoke and have been told this by many people...It gets a bit embarrassing) and I have more confidence in myself than I ever thought possible.
I have my own home based business. I sell Tastefully Simple. The food is phenomenal!!!! I am such a picky eater and there isn't anything that I have tried that I don't LOVE!!
My gardens are my refuge, my therapy, and my joy. I can't wait until spring when I can start digging in the dirt again. I cannot go a day without music. My ipod is always close at hand...even at work. I LOVE all music. My teenage sons and their friends are blown away by some of the music I listen to. I can go from ...Expand for more
Native American Flutes to Bag Pipes and Drums, Big Band to Marilyn Manson. It all depends on my mood. I love to read. It drives my husband nuts that I will spend $70 to go deep sea fishing...catch 2 fish, take 2 naps and read the remainder of the day. My naps on the boat are the best sleep I get all year! I miss being near the water...even if it is just the North East River. Every once in a while, I still write poetry. I have even written two songs, but I never did much with either one. I am a video game JUNKIE. I am absolutely addicted to World of Warcraft.
My husband just bought a Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide!!!! I can't wait to ride. I have my motorcycle license, but would rather ride with him. Our first LONG ride will be to New Hampshire this summer. Next year we hope to go to South Dakota for Sturgis. Update 2009 - in 20089 we went to New Hampshire...awesome trip. This year we went to Key West. Trailered to outside Daytona then rode the rest of the way...in July...heat exhaustion was a difficulty, but I survived. The bikes didn't go back on the trailer...rode all the way home to PA. Still want to get my own bike someday, but unless they figure out a way to rig my camera to a bike, I will stay on the backseat. Have taken thousands of photos from the back of the bike.
I have a psychotic cat named Scyttles. I have a 5 foot long Columbian Red Tailed Boa Constrictor named Pandora. Both are interesting conversation starters for friends visiting my house for the first time.
I think that's enough for now. If you want to know anything else...you can visit me on MySpace, Facebook or just ask.
