Susan's Story

Life After high school, I went to ASU where I got a BS in nursing, traveled in Europe for 6 months, worked, and married Brian in 1985. We have two great kids, Amber, 20, and Kyle, 16. I was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune in 1994 and won "big money", so we were able to then build a home in Gilbert, where we've been living for the past 13 years. I'm presently working as a staff nurse at Banner Desert Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at our 30th reunion. Are we really that old?? Hard to believe it's been 30 years! School Probably my biggest crush on a guy who never even knew I was alive at the time, was Mike Pappas. I used to watch for him when he drove his car home from school. I used to ride my bicycle to school and one day I was starting to lock it by the locker area and he walked by and I got so flustered that I forgot to lock it and it got stolen! My dad was so mad at me that he made me walk to school for the rest of the year. Not hardly worth it for a guy who didn't even know I existed! Haha! The teacher who inspired me the most was probably Miss Arenz. I had her for Advanced Health and I just loved her. She was so funny and had a genuine interest in her students, and was probably part of the reason I became a nurse, because she made Advanced Health so fun. I know.....I was a nerd! Haha! Those were good times, though, going on all the interesting field trips and st...Expand for more
uff. I'll never forget going to a park on College Ave between Broadway and Apache (I can't remember the name of it right now.....getting too old!) where we were having some sort of picnic with people who were in the Guitar Ensemble and Jim Tapson decided to show off in his car and was peeling through the parking lot and crashed right into a tree! Luckily, he wasn't hurt, but it was so funny cuz he thought he was so cool at the time....until he crashed, that is! I will also never forget the time a bunch of us went ice skating at Oceanside Ice Arena, I think it was called, and afterwards Brian Scott and Mike Kane wanted to go "cruising" down Central Ave. in Phoenix, so we did (it was lame that night though), and I told them I had to stop somewhere and let my parents know why I was going to be late, so two carloads of us stopped at an old hotel on Van Buren to use the pay phone, and the manager of the hotel I guess he was, pointed a shotgun at me and told me to "get the hell out of there!" I started running back to the car screaming, "He's got a gun!" and everyone piled back into the cars and we tore out of there as fast as we could! Kathy Luttrell was trying to duck down while she was driving to dodge any bullets in case the guy shot at us! He didn't, but then on the freeway on the way home, we got a flat tire, so I was REALLY late getting home! Good times!! Haha! I didn't tell my parents about the guy with the gun until many years later.
