Susan's Story
Life
After high school, I went to Carolina and graduated in May 1977 with a degree in Intermediate Education. I taught two years, then "did some other things" in Chapel Hill, then Kansas, Ohio, Gunnison, CO, and Tinnie, New Mexico for about 8 years, returning to Morganton in May 1985, still doing other things besides teaching (proofreading/editing, etc.) until Coach Mac and Roger Golightly reminded me (at different times) that perhaps I should reconsider teaching ... so I returned to teaching in August...Expand for more
1988. I taught in elementary school (mostly grades 4-5) at Glen Alpine Elementary School (and one totally HORRIBLE year at WA Young), one year in Caldwell County, and now am a reading specialist (who also has to teach Math) for small groups at Northview Middle School in Hickory. I earned my Masters in reading during my last years teaching in Burke County. I still live in Morganton, but commute to Hickory because I like teaching Title I reading and math in middle school (and they pay me more money)!
