Susan's Story
Wow, where to start... Probably the biggest effect on my life has been that I was diagnosed in 1993 with Brain Cancer. It was a slow growing tumor, thank God, and I went through radiation therapy for 4-5 months and it killed the tumor. Lived tumor free for about 7 years before they found a new tumor in a different part of my brain in 2007, which had been missed for 5 years (great work docs!). I went through a year's worth of chemotherapy which stopped the new tumor from growing and it hasn't begun to grow again since. YEAH! As long as it doesn't start to grow again, I'll be fine. I get it checked by a new MRI every 3 months. Just had my last check up in Jan, 2010...still stable. Besides some residual effects from the radiat...Expand for more
ion and chemotherapy, I'm doing great! Lucky to be alive, and try to remember that each day. To look and talk to me, you would never know I have it, so I am definitly one of the lucky ones! It did effect my ability to work, and I haven't worked for 3 years now. Wishing I could find some type of part-time work to help keep me busy though, and bring in a little spending money. I have had to sell my home, and most of my belongings and move back into my mother's home in Dunwoody. Been there for almost 3 years now, and itching to get my own place again. (Mom's not a big fan of loud rock'n roll music!)
I have two adorable grandchildren now who I visit as much as I can and try to stay in touch with all my old friends. Life is good!
