Susan's Story
Life
After high school graduation, I went to Delta for a semester, then back home to Columbia. I graduated from Sac St in 83, then got my teaching credential in 85. I taught in Bakersfield for a year then went to college in Fullerton to get a MFCC. I got married while there in 89. I had two boys, one in 90 and one in 93, then we moved to Modesto. I got a job as a social worker, got divorced in 96. Decided to follow my heart instead of doing what I was "supposed" to do and moved in with my soul mate, who happens to be a woman. k, though I never intended to do that when I graduated high school. We have 6 grandchildren ages 3 1/2 to 3 mo. 4 girls and 2 boys. They are all local now and we see them often. Since November 02, I have been able to cut back my hours to spend more time with our youngest who has special needs. She is a terrific little girl who brings us joy every day. The rest of our children keep us busy as well, doing what regular kids do. They are good kids and keep out of trouble, most of the time. We enoying going to the beach 1-2 times a month in our motor home. We are involved in Civitan, an international community outreach club that services people with special needs. Life is good.
