Susan's Story
Workplace
After college I got a job teaching art in Allen Park, MI - which was very exciting, but didn't help a very tough year for me. After a couple years teaching, I wondered what else was out there for me. I went to California for a year and tried to make a career out of being an artist. I got a job as a storyboard illustrator for a computer game development company, and had a great time - unfortunately they went out of business. g a Children's book author/illustrator. I then ended up back in Mich. because I wanted to start a family, and did secretarial work to make ends meet. It was a good experience but it was an automotive company that was making cutbacks, so I decided to move on, and ended up at Kalitta Air. This has turned out to be a very rewarding job and I've been moving up the ladder steadily. It's been pretty stressful though since I've had a second baby and the company has been taking off. I can't really complain though, they've been very good to me.
