Susan's Story
Life
I've been living back in Ann Arbor for almost a year and finally feel like I'm "back home" again! Things haven't changed too much. They still protest the war in front of the post office on Liberty. I moved into a loft right downtown and can go out the front door and be right in the middle of all of the action. I LOVE it!! Most of the people I was friends with when I left in 1987 have moved on but I have a whole gang of new friends of all ages. "Shakey Jake" still plays his guitar but he's almost totally deaf now and can't hold much of a tune of any sort. I turned 60 in May and it was a hard day indeed. I kept saying, "I just can't believe I'm 60!!! Where did the time go?" I'm fortunate I don't look or act my age. I volunteer at the U of M cancer center, the Michigan Theater, and Hill auditorium. I've been busy getting my art career going again after 30 years on hold. I still love to travel and am planning a trip to Scotland to visit cousins. If any of you come to A2 to visit look me up.

ke, Harlan, Derby and Seaholm. I still keep in contact with my oldest friend Trish
Varga. She and I did a skit called
Mary Ellen at Pembroke. I still have our fourth grade picture with Greg Akin in the back row sticking out his tongue. Derby was new when
I was in 7th grade. I loved art and hated home ec! I took Latin I and 2 and don't remember any of it!
At Seaholm I belonged to Shushmasters. The biggest events I
remember: Winning field day as Juniors, the Peter, Paul, and Mary concert, cruising Woodward from the
Big Boy to Ted's, and Miss Allen.
College
I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and fell in love with the town.I protested Viet
Nam and wanted no part of war. I loved to attend football games at the big house and loved to kayak the Huron River. I had some of the greatest times of my life in Ann Arbor.
Workplace
I decided in June to retire and enjoy the good life. I miss the college students but not the work stress. I plan to volunteer, continue working on family genealogy, and enjoy life!
