Susan's Story
It's hard to believe that it's been 40 years! I have been happily married to my husband, Kirby, for 36 years. We have one child, our son Cody. He is married to a wonderful woman and father of two year old twins, a girl & boy. They live close so we get to see our grandchildren quite often, which we love. My husband was a pipe-fitter and now is a nuclear process operator on the Hanford Reservation in Richland, Washington. I just recently retired from Benton County after nearly 24 years. I started out in the Clerk's Office as a juvenile clerk and then was promoted to jury coordinator. After 10 years, I moved to the Personnel Resources Dept and helped with benefits, FMLA, Workers Comp and other related duties. ...Expand for more
Shortly after, I was promoted to the civil service examiner for Benton Co, where I supported the Sheriff's Office in hiring their employees. I am a three year breast cancer survivor and decided that it was time to reduce stress, play with my grand-babies and enjoy life. So with full support from my husband, I retired on June 28th, 2013. My sweet mother in law also turned 90 the same day which is a blessing since both my parents and step mother are now deceased. A big celebration on this day. I have a wonderful life and feel blessed to have so much. I am truly looking forward to coming home for a few days and reconnecting with old friends & classmates.
