Susan's Story
NEW: It's amazing the person I am now, compared to how I was in school. Life is much more fun when it is more balanced. How did this mousy, overly emotional, average 'follower' young girl become able to speak in public, lead an organization, live a single life for 45 years, then marry and become my own boss?!
In 1987 I moved to a small, scenic, tree-lined town of Grove City, just outside of Columbus, Ohio.
Ended up here unintentionally, but it's a friendly, nice little town. If I can't live in Colorado, then the Columbus area isn't bad. Columbus & Denver are similar - minus the mountains, that I miss daily.
My brother Shannon & his 3 kids live in Columbus. His son, Tab, just turned 19 in 2008. His daughters are Ashley, 13 and Lauren, 14 1/2. My dad moved to Zanesville, east of Columbus in 1996. It's nice to be near enough to visit. Shannon and I are closer than ever. What a great Dad he is and a wonderful brother to have. I'm so lucky.
Was twice elected President of Kiwanis Club of Grove City: a non-profit, community service club. TONS of fun, networking, and business experience.
Spent 9 yrs at JP Morgan Chase mortgage - as a trainer and business analyst. LOVED being a trainer. It gave me confidence, clarity, and abilities I might never have found on my own. Career path has changed in 2001 - began working for Kord...Expand for more
a Nemeth Engineering, a wonderful engineering firm. Left there in 2004 & moved back to Colorado for 5 1/2 months. Came back to Ohio to be with Rick Arms, my husband now.
NEW: I got married (FINALLY) on May 26, 2006 to Rick Arms. First time bride at 45 - WOW. What an adventure that was. It was an AMAZING fairy tale for me! Married life is hectic but tons of fun. Rick and I like to say we are "middle aged 12 year olds and newlyweds". He has a grown son, Jason, & daughter, Tracy. Jason has two girls, & a son to be born in Sept 2008. Tracy has a son and daughter. We all live in Chillicothe, OH. It is 45 minutes south of Columbus, Oh. Trivia: Chillicothe was the first 'capital' of Ohio (1810 -1812 ?) until the government functions were permanently moved to Columbus.
NEW: I am now a Mary Kay consultant. My goal is to get it to a full time status. I love working from home, being my own boss, and helping women look great and achieve their goals. Who knew this could be so much FUN. And who knew I would be GREAT at standing in front of strangers, presenting to them, whether as a Kiwanis volunteer, corporate trainer, or Mary Kay consultant. Love it!
