Hi everyone!
On January 9, 2011, I became a great-aunt a third time around. My nephew Scott and his wife Megan had a beautiful daughter. Her name is Layla. So, my sister Nancy is a Grannie Nannie, once again. So, congrat's, little sister!

Okay, for the ones who are interested in wanting to know, this is my brief story after graduating from high school....
I took some classes through Sacramento City College for a while, and then dropped out. I then decided to go back to school, but attended MTI Western
Business college, where I completed my courses. I was keeping an eye out for any announcements of state testing, and whenever there was a test posted, my application was in the mail! It took many tests, and low scores, before I really scored high enough to be in the top 3 ranks of a test. My first state job was with the Employment Development Department, as an Office Assistant, Typist (PI). I worked in the payroll section, and was it ever a headache at the end of the pay period, when state workers got paid! We would have to some times work overtime to get the payroll out to the other field offices of EDD! I worked for EDD for three years, before I transferred over to another state agency. At the time, when I was with EDD, I was not permanent full time help, and state agencies were starting to lay off their part time employee. So, I was looking around like crazy at other agencies, who were hiring permanent full time employees. Luckily, I was to transfer over to the state agency of the Board of Control, Victims of Crime, also located in Sacramento. I was with the Board for five years, and in the five years I was there, the work was so interesting. I started out in the file room, climbed up to the customer service unit, and then was transferred over to a section where I was the lead clerical support person. While working at the Board, I took a promotional test, and was finally promoted to Office Technicia...Expand for more
n Typist, and was transferred over to the Hearing/Appeals Unit of the Board. After being at the Board for five years, I felt I needed a change, and needed to try and get another promotion while I was at it. I applied at the Department of Transportation in 2001, and was hired by them at the end of November of the same year. I was still a office technician, and was hired to work in the Division of Planning clerical unit. The work I did in the clerical unit was just totally different from what I ever did in EDD, and at the Board. It took me a while to get used to the change! For one thing, the division has a staff of at least 100, compared to just working with a very small group of employees, like I had at the other agencies. I was an office technician for about 3 or 4 years in the clerical unit, before I was finally promoted to a staff service analyst! It took a while, but I finally got that darn promotion! I'm finally out of the clerical circle, and it's more administration type work I do now, whatever that means!
I'm planning on taking the state Associate Government Personnel Analyst test soon, so I can at least be at that level of pay, by the time I decide to retire. Wish me luck!
Hopefully, I'll be able to retire in February of 2014. I plan on moving out of the West Sacramento area, after I retire. I've lived in the area since 1959, so it's time for a change. I'm looking at either the Lincoln or Roseville area to retire. I'll have close to 22 years with the state, when I plan on retiring.
After I retire, I would love to do more traveling, and taking more cruises with the family. I've gone on two cruises with the family, and both have been to the Western and Eastern Caribbean!!! Also, my dream trip will want to be going on an European cruise!! I would love to visit those beautiful countries. I would very much like to make a trip over to Sweden, especially, since my great-grandparents, on my late mom's side of the family, came over from Sweden.
