Suzanne's Story
from Suzanne Konic Molskness, 1-17-15
I have lived in the small town (8500) of Thief River Falls, MN, which is about 80 miles south of the Canadian border & 1-hour from the nearest large city (Grand Forks, ND). I've been married 27+ years to Lyle, who grew up in this town & is where his family lives. I married too late for me to have children (in 1987) but Lyle has 3 grown sons who live in the Twin Cities area, so there are I think about 9 grandchildren. I work part time as a peer support person in a group home for people with mental illness, which is an interesting & very challenging job because of a lot of drama with up to 15 unhappy adults! I am semi-disabled with scoliosis & clinical depression & Lyle is retired from furniture manufacture & disabled with fibromyalgia - so we are the semi-blind leading the blind, so to speak!
We live with a smoothcoat collie service dog for Lyle & 2 kitties for me, & we are surrounded by Lyle's great family, his sister Rhoda being my best friend, his brother, & his very large extended family. This town contains more Norwegians per capita, than any other city in the U.S. & Scandinavians live often well into the 90's & even 100's, so he still has aunts & uncles.

ve alternative church called Epiphany Station, with emphasis on youth. Our spiritual life is very important to us & this is the best thing about living here because we are blessed to be focusing on loving God & loving people, period (our motto), which we do. I graduated from an New York upstate ag & tech college, which began investigating Buddhism, then moved to Tuscon, where I studied many other new age religions, not to mention a druggy lifestyle, which left me wanting & which I've left behind!
We have purchased a new computer in November (after 10 yrs. of not having one), so I still need to learn how to post some pics. We became "dinosaurs" in those 10 yrs! I just turned 70, unbelievably, but people say I look 10 yrs. younger, tho' it doesn't always feel that way - "old age" is challenging, yet good. I was enrolled for an online class with our local community college, but then I broke my arm so I had to drop out. It was to be a class called "Interpersonal Communications" to teach me how to better engage my clients at work & stop putting my foot in my mouth, as I am wont to do! Well the fall semester will be a face-to-face class, which will save me a lot of electronic-related stress! Any of my classmates that may remember me will probably remember I was voted "most shy girl" I think it was in our senior year...
