Suzanne's Story
Wow! Where to start? After high school I headed off to college, first to Wesley then to Salisbury University. Graduated with a Bachelors then a Masters in teaching. A path I never saw coming. Married my college sweetie, Steve. We live in Maryland, on the eastern shore. We have three beautiful children, two boys and a girl. They are all grown and moved south, which is what we plan to do when we retire. Our grandson is 3 and lives in Florida with our oldest son and his wife and since he is the only one who has given us a grandchild we will settle there first. Must spoil my little man!!
Steve is a principal at a high school and I am a science teacher in middle school. I have been teaching for 36 years now and loving it. I was the director of a residential summer center for the state of Maryland for talented and gifted students for 14 years, but had to give it up two years ago when my mother became ill. I don't know what I would have done without him. Now we split time between our place in Ocean City, NJ, our home in Salisbury and visiting the kids in Savannah, Charlotte and Tampa.
My husband runs marathons with our oldest son and our daughter so we do get to travel a bit with that. January 2010 we are all participating in some part of the Goofy Challenge at Disney. It will be my first run. Don't bother looking up my time - I will be last, but we will all be together for a great vacation.
UPDATE: Things have changed tremendously for my family. We lost my beautiful daughter-in-law and our new grandson in childbirth - something none of us can still begin to comprehend. I retired in June after teaching for 37 years. This has allowed me to be able to fly back and forth to help my son and my 5 year old grandson adjust to their new life. Each day is a challenge but we are a very close knit family so we will get t hrough this. I was asked to come back to my Directors position for the state dept of education so I worked at my summer center and will be back their next summer as well.
