Suzanne's Story

Life I am married for almost 20 years and Mike and I have 1 son. Andrew was not only born on my birthday, but he goes to Clarkstown North just like I did! That is weird! Of course I remind him that "when I went there it was Clarkstown Central Senior High School..CCSH!" We live in New City and have since we got married. I am now living in my original house, as I recently lost both my parents. SO we are getting our house ready to sell as we have moved in here! Very busy!!! Flashback like crazy as I go downstairs and think of the open house parties and hanging out here with my friends! Remember the red, white and blue cafe theme of my basement? IT still exists and Andrew will be sharing it with his friends as well! We did a lot of international traveling due to my job, but Mike and I are now both retired and trying to just enoy with our son, family and friends! School I moved here in the second half of sophomore year from Brooklyn, It was hard at first but I made some friends and it got easier! I had some great times with people from the classes of 70-72 which made High School a blast! Of course I loved Mrs. A and Mr. Orlando! Mr. Mentz was the first young good looking teacher that joined us, and now he is retired and the auditorium is named after him! I always remember the difficulties with Mr. Speranza as he kept threatening to fail me senior year! We just hated each other! Funny...today it would be called harassment! Then it was a teacher being obnoxious! I had a couple of open house parties and we all spent a lot of time in my basement ...Expand for more
which was set up like a cafe for those of you who can remember! It kind of became a hangout for a bunch of us! Good memories...I have no regrets about High School! I remember football games and Buxtons right after! Riding around honking!!! We had a blast! College I graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in English Education K-12 and Special Ed. I enjoyed college and was in a sorority as Social Chairman (Delta Gamma Phi), which should be no surprise! Workplace I started working with AC Nielsen (yes the ratings) as an analyst in 1976 and worked my way up to Vice President. I left there and went with my Client in 1997 to head up their North American Market Research Department and eventually I added Global to the list! I recently retired (2002) after being the Director of Global Market Research for Reckitt Benckiser. They are the manufacturers of Lysol, Woolite, French's Mustard, Airwick, Resolve to name a few things! I lived here and had my office in England which I traveled to every six weeks for 2 weeks! The travel was heavy and airport after airport made it less thrilling over the years. After 9/11 the joy fell out of all of the travel and I missed my family way to much! I was pretty proud of what I was able to accomplish, as this was never someting on my radar! Thought I would get married out of college and have kids! The career just happened! Amazingly my entire work life was consumed with Math which I thoroughly hated in High School! Just ask Mr. Dusanenko, or Mr. Stapleton! Funny how things turn out, isn't it?
