Suzanne's Story

Life After graduating a year earlier than expected from Glendora High, I attended and graduated from Point Loma College in San Diego. I had a double major in Piano Performance and Music Education. I also received my elementary teaching credential. Just before my senior year of college, I married Kevin Mulcahy, a San Dimas High graduate that I met when he came into the McDonald's I worked at on Arrow Highway!!We will celebrate our 24th anniversary in September 2005. We have three children ages 20, 19, and 17. Our oldest is entering her senior year of college. The 19 year old will be a junior in college and our 17 year old will be a senior in high school. Due to my husband's career we have moved a lot. We have lived in San Diego, Hesperia, Wrightwood, Colorado Springs, Glendora and now we live in Hawaii where I am a principal of an intermediate school (grades 7 and 8). My parents still live in Glendora so we are there about twice a year. School My favorite memories of Glendora High School are football games and watching the band and drill team perform during half time, playing the piano for Royal Stewart Singers and going on choir tour, going to all of the dances, and leaving campus to go out to lunch when we weren't supposed to. My favorite teacher was Judy Teft because she got to know her students, greeted them by name in the halls, and knew what it was to actually teach. She also laughed a lot in class which made me think she enjoyed what she was doing. College One of the best decisions I ever made was to attend Point Loma. I have wonderful life-long friends and LOTS of great memories. Besides all of the academics, when I think of PLC aka PLNU I think of ho...Expand for more
neybuns and coffee from the crud club, practice room adventures, secret escape routes and entrances into lower floors of Nease Hall, several terrible falls in public, Wood Hall and Schnell as well, famous music prof. quotes (which can't be written here for fear of some kind of classmates violation), the teeny, tiny little bookstore, late night trips to Cabrillo Hall, food/study runs to Bob's Big Boy, Soup Plantation, Chart House mud pie, LOTS and LOTS of hair drying, curling irons and hair spray, awesome choir tours and lots more!! Good times, good times. I majored in Piano Performance and Music Education. I stayed an extra year to earn my multiple subject teaching credential. I have taught K-8 both regular and special education in California, Colorado and Hawaii. I have been a mentor teacher for both my district and the State of California. I have served as assistant principal of a large high school and am now a principal of an intermediate school (grades 7 and 8) in Kailua, Hawaii home of the #1 beach in the world (according to Dr. Beach). I just completed my 22nd year as an educator. Kevin Mulcahy and I have been married for almost 24 years (Boo-ya to all of you who thought it wouldn't last!!). We have three children-one who will be a senior in college in the fall, another who will be a junior in college in the fall, and another who will be a senior in high school. They are great. I miss the girls terribly when they are attending college on the mainland. We pastored in the Nazarene church for eight years. We are now marketplace ministers in Hawaii with Transformation Hawaii and attend Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay. Time sure does fly......... and we are definitely having fun.
