Suzi's Story
Life
Geez, life...what a blessing. I had to scrape the bottom so I could recognize where the top is. Still searching for that and hope to never find it- I'm having too much fun! I have been working as a wildlife biologist, environmental educator and kayak instructor for 10 years and have just expanded my work world to a small amount of desk warming (blech!). I have spent several years becoming a Reiki master healer and it has shaped my perception of life in the best possible way. I have kept my gills wet by racing Olympic Sprint Kayaks...retired from international competition in 1998 after some nasty back injuries (but some GREAT scars!) and took up a type of canoe racing called dragonboating. Have been on the US womens team twice and just took home 2 gold medals from the World Championships in South Africa this past April. Cracks me up that I am the slowest person that I know in life. Still haven't become MRS ANYBODY but thats a-ok. I will consider myself one of those late bloomers....and one of those strange ladies with 1000 cats who p...Expand for more
lays the cool auntie to everybody elses kids! ha ha! I live on the foothills of Mt Hood just outside of Portland Oregon on some acerage with a menagerie of rescued mules llamas, chickens, dogs, cats and occasional wildlife rehab critter (the latest is a vulture).
I am still working as a wildlife biologist (and now warming a desk part time while I set up Americorps members in their environmental service). So in the field I have given thousands of fish thier first and only 'alien abduction'. Kayaked in the midst of spitting cobras, I have been tracked by a cougar- but not eaten (did I smell THAT bad?). I have rehabilitated birds of prey, skunks, raccoons, opossums and a vulture, have come face to muzzle with Black bears, banded tiny hummingbirds, tracked roosavelt elk, ear notched tiny peromiscus, been infested with all manner of nasty biting bugs, taken enough dirt and water samples to make your head spin and have enjoyed my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in some of the worlds most beautiful places. Yup, life sucks. he he he!!!!!
