Suzy's Story
The Life and events of Suzy Crist--
My life started at a very young age. One little known fact is that I was a twin. My twin brother was born dead, so I will get to see him in heaven. I lived in CO for the first two years of my life, and then the family moved back to Quincy IL. I have one deceased sister Mary Lou Schaefer Fleer, born March 30, 1941, one living fun-loving crazy sister, Roberta Schaefer Thomas. We have a lot of fun and fellowship. I have one Brother Lou Schaefer of Grand Rapid MI. Dad died in 1989, and dear sweet Mom died in 2001. All of my family has had a very positive effect on my life and I am thankful for them and the children and grands that God has given me. Jesus Christ is my main man.
I chose to stay home with my children til they were in school, which were some of the most precious times in my life. I went back and finished my BS in Education in 1979. I began my teaching career at QJHS and received my MS in 1983.
God has given me such a full and blest life. He has turned all the rough times in my life into strength, patience, and joy. The Millineum brought a total life makeover, and it is still a work in progress. timeline: 2000: divorced from a 34 year marriage, new grandson Thatcher Steel Crist 2001: mom died, new granddaughter, Mary Jeltje Goldschmidt, 2002: Lung Cancer, successful lobectomy, new grand...Expand for more
son Ziven Rain Crist, 2003: tornado struck my house, new grandson Reuben Joseph Goldschmidt. At this point, I quit asking God for strength and patience. I still need more strength at times, but God has blest me with a spiritfilled life, peace, joy, lack of worry, etc. I have a total of 11 grands, (besides the ones mentioned above), I have Royal 15, Nick 13, River 13, Raven 11, Leo 9, Laura Margaret 2, and the newest, Arrow Rye 6 mo. All live in Quincy now, and I have close access! My children are all Christian and attend the Crossing Church with me. I retired from teaching, on my 60th birthday, after a career at Quincy Junior High School. I taught EMH, LD, BD PH, HI, (just to mention a few initials) Adaptive PE, Social Studies, Language Arts, Reading, Math Typing, Keyboarding, Computers, Programming, Multimedia, & I probably missed a few. Needless to say, it was not a boring job. I have a rich full life, traveling, mentoring, Bible class teacher, volunteering at Blessing Hospital, assisting in home schooling my grands, singing in choir, missionary trips (3 to interior Alaska), one to Kenya, children's ministery at church, Christian singles group at my church. I attended clown university in 2005, and have been clowning around for awhile. My name is Froggy the Clown. Since retirement, I do one thing for $--certified IL HS volleyball official.
