Tom's Story
Life
Active duty in the Army after high school. My Military Occupation Specialty, or MOS, was, Artillery, Radio and Wire communications, I was fortunate, I didn't go to Vietnam. I graduated from Sacramento State in 1967. That same year, I went to work in Sacramento for Standard Oil Of Calif., later to be Chevron USA Oil Company. I met my wife Candi at Sac State in 1966, and we were married in 1968. From 1968 to 1977, the Company moved us to Chico, Bakersfield, Fresno, back to Sacramento and finally Concord Ca. Most of my 32 years with Chevron involved selling, marketing, exchanging and financing petroleum products sold within the USA. My last 5 years were in International sales and finance. In 1999,I retired.
I now spend most of my days golfing, fly fishing, traveling and enjoying my grand kids. I also enjoy keeping my "67" Chevy Malibu,"283," running well and looking good,(SEE PHOTOS).
We've lived in Benicia Calif. since 1977. It's a great little town with a lot of history and great climate. One of California's best kept secrets. It was the Capitol of Ca. 1853-54. It's located on the Carquinez Straits, where the Sacramento River runs into the San Francisco Bay. It's a short drive to Napa Valley, and not to far from the Sierras and Tahoe. There may be 6 traffic lights in town.
We have two daughters. We have three grandsons and three grand daughters. They're a lot of fun. Fortunately for us, three are in Benicia and three are in Granite Bay, near Roseville Ca.

they all know how to throw and catch a ball, swing a bat, shoot a basketball, cast a fishing rod and hit a golf ball,
Their turning out to be great all around kids. I'm very proud of them.
I stay in touch with a few old friends from Highlands. We get together for golf and some great fishing trips, in and out of the USA.. I made some good friends at Highlands. We all went in different directions after graduation from Highlands so we have a lot to talk about. I still enjoy their company. We golf every Wednesday in and around the Sacramento area..
If you recognize any of the Cub Scouts in the picture that I haven't identified, please let me know. I can update.
A couple years ago, John Matthews, Harold Carlile and I were returning from fishing in Canada aboard a flight out of Denver. On board were some Boy Scouts from Sacramento. John mention to the Scouts that we had once belonged to the Golden Empire League of Scouts in Sacramento. The boys were surprised that the League was that old. Do you remember those days when nothing mattered before you were born.?
Please check out my photos, you may recognize some names. Send me a note anytime I'm never to busy respond.
## I still haven't forgiven the 1960 Tartan yearbook staff for putting my name under Dave Van Brash's "1959" picture shooting a layup on the "1959" basketball team. My basketball picture in "60"was shooting a set shot. Dave was not on the team in 1960. My number in "1960" was 22, and " I WAS NEVER THAT HAIRY."
