Ilene's Story
I hope my old friends remember me as a good person, who listened well and also liked to have fun! From what I've been told, I was a bit of a rebel - and even thought it was fun to stuff toilets with sanitary napkins (I don't remember it, though)!
I think my friends would think of me as being artistic. My latest thing is to make beaded jewelry. I love the sparkle of seed beads mixed with Swarovski crystals!
Although I lived the first 28 or 29 years of my life in Brooklyn, I've since moved to Long Island (with my 2nd husband). We felt it was a better place to start a family (unfortunately, it's also turned out to be VERY expensive to live here). I would like to move eventually to PA. I have family there I'd like to be close to, although it will take me further away from my children (my son will stay on LI and my daughter lives in CT).
Most of my old friends would not know why I now have the middle name of Rachel. It's a long, but interesting story! (This story would be the answer to "what about you would surprise everyone at your HS reunion?" - and has something to do with my desire to move to PA!)
Two of the people from my past I'd most like to be in contact with again are Eleanor Cohen (now Seror?) and Randy B. Butchen (Aiden?). They were two of my closest friends, and I'd really like to find out how they're doing! I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life, as I'm sure they probably have, and would like to know if they're okay.
If I won $100 million, I'd give up to 1/4th of it to charity, then spend the rest on a new home, my kids and savings/investments.
Years ago, in-between marriages, I re-met my first crush --- boy, was I disappointed! The guy who all the girls thought was so wonderful, wound...Expand for more
up with a pot belly, balding head, and was a security guard! He was totally uncouth, a smoker, and a letch (after starring and starring at my bust all night during the party at his apartment, he actually tried to get me to sleep with him - with his wife there!) ! YUCK!
My biggest "obsession" is the computer! I love it! After that is making beaded jewelry, especially learning how to make new things using new methods. But the thing that relaxes me most, is my cat laying partially on me, kneading and purring. Purrrrrrrrrr
Hmmm... weirdest job I've had.... I guess would be when I was the Executive Secretary at a precious metals vault. Sometimes, in order to get to the ladies' room, I had to step on pallets of gold bars!
If I got one do-over.... I would either go to college straight from HS, rather than years later, or not switch from the Secretarial Program at Taylor Business Institute to the Fashion Merchandising program they had just started. It was worthless!
My first job was at a summer camp, where I got paid $90 (or less) for the summer to be the counselor for 5-year-old boys. I was actually hired to be the assistant, but the counselor never showed up! I was never even given any training for the job. What I remember most about the job is meeting an adorable little girl on the camp bus. I wound up using her first name as my daughter's middle name (Riane)!.
Over the years I have held many jobs. Baby Sitter, Camp counselor (as mentioned above), stock girl, sales girl, Girl Friday, Secretary, Nursery School Assistant Teacher, Nursery School Head Teacher, Medical Transcriptionist, and lastly, Administrative Assistant. But the most important job I've had is being the mother to two wonderful children!
