Life
I, Sybrenna, live in lagrange, georgia in the mountville area of troup county. i have lived at this address for 8+ years to my husband (lonnie l thornton, sr.). together we have five (5) children, at the present time we have three (3) children in college. i am presently working for the troup county board of commissioners in the recreation department as an administrative assistant. my husband has recently retired from the troup county board of education with thirty-one years of service. beside my full-time job, i'm a certified lay speaker and a certified firefighter. i have enjoyed during a lot of volunteer work with the american red cross, and i do a lot of speaking engagements along with my husband ministries involving the church he pastors and our home church. we love people. i still love sports. our daughter (carla) plays basketball for bethune cookman college in daytona beach, fl on a basketball scholarship - will graduate in april 07 - she will teach and coach, our son (lonnie, jr) attends albany state university in albany, ga - majoring in early childhood education - will also graduate in '07, our son (david) is attending gordon college in barnesville, ga his major is business - he played his first two years of college at west georgia s...Expand for more
tate university in carrollton, georgia - so he has to play catch up. the two older children are grown - amy is an assistant principal at long cane elementary school, lagrange, georgia with two girls, her goal is to become a principal at a high school and brian attend savannah state university, columbus state university (need 30 credit hours to get his degree in political science) he decided to work a semester - now likes the green bucks so he is a truck driver with no children. as you can see we only have two grandchildren - katelyn (9) and Leila (4 months old).
after high school i attended marsh draughon business college until they lost their accrediation - came home and attend troup technical college. my first job after college was working in a textile plant for six months and was offered a job in the purchasing department at the corporate office and from there i was offered another job in a machinery company - there i went from a keypunch operator to an administrative assistant - worked at west point foundry and machine company for 19 years. moved on to the troup county board of commissioners as an administrative assistant for 8 years. while working i went to classes to become a certified firefighter and later on to become a certified lay speaker.
